Black Sesame Bun
I have tried a similar kind of bun in Shanghai Ding on the same stretch of shophouses housing the new HSBC Queensbay Branch. It was way MUCH better and it's filled with lotus paste. The reason why i found them better was the black sesame bun shown above doesn't taste like the normal black sesame paste and it has a weird smell. Undesribeable, unimaginable normal black sesame paste will taste like. It is just weird. Rating? Zero/Five
I don't exactly know the name of this dish above. It does taste like char siew pastry but it's not. The filling is sweet and nice when it is served hot. I tried it after it was on the table for some time and it was not as good. Rating? Two/Five
Steamed rice rolls with sweet corn and minced chickenThe Cheong Fun is special because it's not the ordinary prawn or char siew type of Cheong fun we usually savour. I'll give a credit to this dish for their Chilli Paste that goes well with it. Rating? Three/Five.
Fried Radish CakeThis is really good. Soft and tender and fragrant with the Bonito Flakes topping. Heaps. Rating? Four/Five.
Steamed Prawn Dumplings or "Har Kau"
Water Chestnut Dessert I like this dessert but when it was served it wasn't chill enough. or is it supposed to be served warm? Well it wasn't too swet and just nice. Rating? Three/Five
Char Siew Pau "Halal"
Egg Tart
I must stress how much technology these days affect photography. I'm not praising myself for having a good camera or photo shooting skills but if you look at the pictures above you would think that the food must be really really nice. Especially for this Egg Tart. With a naked eye i bet you can judge it's not good. Not to mention to even pop into your mouth. But via this shot it does look tempting. But the truth is not impressive. Rating One/Five.
For the Price of MYR18.80++ for the amount of food above is reasonable. Quality wise they are Good. But i reckon they could be better.
Generally none of us like the dim sum because they not as good as being published on most blogs. We've had better ones before. It's worth a try for the price you pay.
