don't know to be impressed or surprised

I went to look for PCs yesterday because my PC crashed a week ago.

Talking about the PC that i can see diagonally from my position, we bought it way back in the 1998 running on Pentium III Processor with a Clock Speed of 550Mhz runnning on Microsoft Windows 98Plus then to Windows Me with only a 20GB hard disk drive and i think 64MB of RAM. Purchased price MYR4000.

At that time it was the best PC specs in town.

My god! Now....Intel's Latest Technology: the Intel Pro Duo Centrino Technology for lappies and Intel Pentium D for Desktops.

First i intended to get a Pentium 4 processing maybe with a HT technology. Come to realise that my lappie is running on that technology and it was 2 years back.

Now PCs are running on Pentium D. On top of that, it's running with a Dual Core Technology which is way better than the HT Technology.

Impressed by the price of a PC compared to what we paid last time is way too cut throat.
MYR 4000 today i can get these:

Intel Pentium D processor that comes with 2MB Cache, EM64Bit,800 FSB
Intel D945G Express Chipset Motherboard
Pro Lan Network Interface,Graphics Accelerator,High Definition Audio
512 MB DDR2 667 RAM (up to 4GB upgrade)
80GB (SATA II)hardisk
56K V.92 PCI Modem
A Creative Sound Blaster 2.1 Subwoofer Speaker
A Samsung Flat Digital Monitor
A Samsung Optical Mouse and Crystal Keyboard
A Samsung 52X CDRW
plus 3 years warranty

costs MYR3399! (see i can even get a balance out of it)

What is more surprising is that i paid MYR3024 for a PC running on the same processor above
but with a 512 DDR2 533 RAM excluding the Keyboard and upgraded to a Samsung 52X DVDRW

It's unbelieavable.....The Technology! I don't understand why is it so cheap. I thought this might have cost me at least MYR4K and above at least!

Fuiyoh...one day the Intel Pro Duo Centrino Lappie might fall to MYR3K plus too just like the current market for Intel Centrino Mobile Tech.

By then there will be newer technologies again and again prices fall! Hmm.......3 yrs down the road i hope to afford to get a new laptop. What would be good is if im working with a good co. they might offer me a laptop! Way much better rite? But one thing bad is tht they will make sure the processer it good enough, good enough to meet our working needs. Just like a friend who works for Ernst & Young. She was given an IBM laptop running on Centrino Mobile Tech with only a 20GB hard disk. It better than nothing anyway!....Hahaha
